Which Planner Is Right For You: Erin Condren or Happy Planner. The Pros and Cons of Each

Erin Condren vs Happy Planner

Are you purchasing a new planner and can’t decide between Erin Condren or Happy Planner?  If so, then look no further.  I compared these two brands on quality, flexibility, durability, and price to help make the decision easier for you.

Quality

The first thing I focus on when purchasing a planner is quality.  I focus on the sturdiness and thickness of the paper.  Will my pens and markers bleed through the pages?  Erin Condren is well known for their great quality paper, spiral rings, and covers. The pages are thick and sturdy enough that markers and pens won’t bleed through them.  You can apply any kind of sticker and Washi tape without causing damage.  Happy Planner, on the other hand, has thinner paper and sometimes markers and pens will bleed through to the other side.  If using a Happy Planner, you’ll need to be careful about which writing tool you use.

Flexibility

The next thing I look for is flexibility.  Are the pages interchangeable and can I add more?  One of the things I like most about Happy Planner is that you can keep adding and adding pages and that you can rearrange them in any way you want. This gives you more choices for setting up your planner.  Your planner really comes to life based on your own style.  You feel like an artist planning to create a masterpiece, but in this case, the art medium is writing and doodling and your planner is the canvas.  Erin Condren planners do not have interchangeable pages.  You might feel limited in how you organize your Erin Condren planner.

Durability

When it comes to durability, it is almost impossible to beat Erin Condren.  Erin Condren covers are hard and sturdy and will last forever.  The whole planner will last long enough for you to save it on your bookshelf or keepsake box.  Years in the future, if you ever want to reminisce about the good old days, you can flip through your planner and see all your fun memories.  Your Happy Planner is likely to fall apart after a while and is not as good of a keepsake as Erin Condren.

Price

Finally, don’t forget about price.  Price is definitely a factor when it comes to choosing a planner.  Have you ever started ordering a beautifully customized planner just to change your mind to something stripped to the bare essentials because of the price at checkout?  I know I have on a few occasions!  Erin Condren planners can easily cost $50-$70, especially as you start adding more and more custom features.  Happy Planners typically cost about $15 and extra pages and disks can be bought for only a few extra bucks.

How I Use My Erin Condren and My Happy Planner

As a planner myself, I actually use both Erin Condren and Happy planner, believe it or not!  My Erin Condren planner is like my special scrapbook where I write down all the things I did each and every day and decorate it with all the planning accessories I can find.  I even include all the fun birthday and holiday cards, invitations, movie tickets, and concert tickets throughout the year using the fun adhesive stickers Erin Condren has at its shop.  I now have about 5 Erin Condren planners and every time I go back and look at them, a smile comes to my face as they remind me of all the things I once forgot.  I use my Happy Planner as great tool for meeting and appointment reminders, keeping track of monthly bills and expenses, and staying on top of my daily health and diet plans.

There is no right or wrong planner that you can choose.  Both are great options.  It really just depends on your preferences. Everyone uses their planner differently, whether it’s to organize weekly schedules, keep track of daily routines, stay on top of bills, track habits, or make a scrapbook or personal diary.  Whether the quality is more important, or the price, you’re the person who know best based on your interest.
